solid poplar core. Hand rubbed oil finish.
drying, common in industrial walnut processing, homogenizes the color palette
of the heart and sapwood. Air-drying retains the fresh fallen look of walnut’s
high contrast and figure, producing a vibrant palette of colors.
Thinner in appearance, but stronger and lighter than their
modern factory equivalents, the stools are made from solid ash using
traditional post and rung construction techniques. Utilitarian in design and
purpose, the varying heights allow the artist to comfortably place their human subject. Oil/wax finish.

Pennsylvania air-dried black walnut with a trestle base.
A play on traditional post and rung joinery, half of the
bench’s components were kiln dried in-house to dehydrate the wood. After
assembly these parts expand, locking them into place. Wedged tenons are exposed
through the seat. Solid hard maple with a wax finish.
